Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf)
The renamed Windsurf: an AI code editor that runs coding agents
Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf, an AI code editor. The change came on 2 June 2026, and the app now opens as Devin. It is the same editor with the same features. A new screen lets you run and manage many coding agents at once, and the built-in agent is now called Devin Local.
Editor rating is our overall editorial judgment of the tool, out of 5. It is not a test score and not a user-review average. Ratings have not been re-scored since the tool was listed here. The reasons are in Best for and Pros & cons below.
You can use this without coding, but there is some setup before it is useful.
