Linear
The issue tracker built for speed and modern dev teams
Linear is the fastest project management tool for software teams, with sub-100ms interactions and AI-powered triage. It auto-assigns priority, suggests labels, and generates issue descriptions from titles.
Editor rating is our overall editorial judgment of the tool, out of 5. It is not a test score and not a user-review average. Ratings have not been re-scored since the tool was listed here. The reasons are in Best for and Pros & cons below.
Requires some technical comfort with API keys, command line, or coding. If you're new to AI, start with a chat-based tool first.

Create your workspace
Sign up on linear.app with your work email. Linear asks you to create a workspace, the shared space where your team's work lives.
Add your first issue
Press C anywhere in Linear, or click the Create new issue icon at the top left. An issue is one piece of work, like a bug or a task.
Give it a title and status
Every issue needs a title and a status. Type a short title such as "Fix the signup button" and pick a status, and it joins your team's list.
If you close it by mistake
Pressing Esc or the close button keeps the issue as a draft, so nothing is lost. Changes you make in the first three minutes count as part of creating it, not as later edits.
